    Optimasi Cranking Ampere Aki Di P.t. "X"

    Accumulator products of P.T. "X" that have accumulator of 221 CA can not fulfil Japanese, Europe and U.S. standards that require minimum cranking ampere of 275 CA. By using fishbone diagram suspected affecting factors to accumulator cranking ampere are obtained. Company chooses factors that are allowed to be experimented. There are 4 chosen factors. Each factors has 3 levels that are charging time interval (30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes), cell plate thickness (1.2 mm, 1.4 mm, 1,6 mm), material purity percentage (96%, 97%, 98%), and charging current (160 A, 170 A, 180 A). From the data, the experiment combination is done by using orthogonal array that is one of the Taguchi\u27s method steps. From the analysis the best combination is obtained that is charging time interval of 60 minutes, cell plate thickness of 1.4 mm, material purity percentage of 98%, and charging current of 180 A. This combination can increase cranking ampere to 278 CA. Verification test proves that cranking ampere of 278 CA can be attained

    In an industry that produces product with a quite many components, assembly process usually is the most cost-determining process. Realizing that almost all products are assembled from some components and that the assembly process itself takes time, then products as much as possible are made to be assembled easily. Product design that is not proper will cause a very high numbers of components that, in turn, will reduce the reliability of that product. Finally, it will increase the assembly cost. That's why product design needs to be evaluated for assembly purpose. The purpose of this research is to evaluate product design by Assembly Analysis and Line Balancing Spreadsheet (AA&LBS) method. Then, the old design is improved to get a new design. The new design is compared the one resulted from Boothroyd Dewhurst (BD) method, where assembly time reduction, efficiency improvement, assembly cost reduction, and Ullman's 13 Guidelines method are used as the criteria. Of the data analysis, assembly time reduction of AA&LBS method is almost 2.7 times, and assembly cost reduction is almost 2.5 times than of BD method. AA&LBS method also resulted in average efficiency improvement that is larger, i.e. 11.08%, while BD method is only 0.08%. According to Ullman's 13 Guidelines method, AA&LBS method has a total score of 1062, while BD method has a score of 1060

    Hardness is one of the mechanical properties needed in a grinding ball. The hardness of grinding ball produced up to now is gained by trial and error to those parameters which are presumed influencing the hardness. Research is done to get parameter influence the hardness of grinding ball and optimum level. Three parameters presumed influencing the hardness are temperature of raw material (Tm), the initial temperature of quenching (Tq), and the final temperature of quenching (Tt). Design of experiment is used to analysis which parameter influence the hardness. A 23 factorial design is chosen, each parameter has two level. According to experiment and data analysis, the influencing parameter are Tq, Tt and interaction between Tq and Tt. The optimum value of Tq and Tt are 905 ± 10°C and 133 ± 3°C, value of Tm is 1110 ± 10°C

    Air Slip Forming machine is one of the machines that is used to produce luggage. However, so far in the manufacturing process determination of operation parameter air-out time (X1), air-in time (X2) and heating time (X3), also the response variable which is the circumference of the luggage (Y) are done by trial and error. Therefore the circumference of the luggage is not the same as the standard one. Respone surface method and CCD formula will be used to get this mathematical model which describe the relation between luggage circumference and other influential variables. The best condition to produce luggage with circumference that meets the standard are 6.3 sec for air-out time, 2.6 sec for air-in time and 62 sec for heating time

    Casting process in P.T. Barindo Anggun Industri produces many rejected products. This condition will be improved by controlling factors, such as pouring temperature, pouring time, and pouring height. The research shows that those three factors give significant effect and minimum number of rejected products is obtained when pouring temperature is set at 1200°C, pouring time at 10 seconds, and pouring height at 10 centimeters

    In attempt to increase the quality of SR-24-type iron rods several constraints are often faced. One of the problems is the high variability of yield strength quality characteristic. A research of influential factors and ideal composition of materials that can minimize quality variability is needed. To solve the above problem Taguchi method is used in designing the experiment. The superiority of this method is the ability to minimize variability of response and the efficiency of experiment. First steps that is taken is choosing control and noise factors and determining the levels. Then, the orthogonal matrix for experiment is built. Data analysis are done by optimizing signal-to-noise ratio, analysis of means, and analysis of variance. Result of analysis of SNR and mean give a conclusion that Carbon content of 0.1 %, Silicon content of 0.15 %, and Mangan content of 0.5 % are sufficient composition of additive material that will minimize variability level of yield strength

    Maintenance scheduling system is very important for a company to reduce total maintenance cost. Maintenace scheduling will be done on hydraulic seal and oil burner pipe that are components of press machine for hot forming process. Scheduling model will consider labor cost, production loss cost, and spare part cost. The aim of this model is to determine the interval of maintenance by optimizing cost. This calculation will reduce total maintenance cost between 35,07 % and 90,73 % of the previous total maintenance cost

    Data from a production process usually is correlated and doesnot fit normal distribution. In order to detect the existence of strutural changes in production process, especially attribute data, which is focused on changes that are influenced by the data covariance structure, it is necessary to model the covariance function which identical to the spectral distribution first. Accordingly, data is transformed into its spectral distribution by using Walsh-Fourier Transformation so that data will not be correlated and can be analize statistically. Transformed data will be tested with F-test to see if this method can detect the changes. This simulation will use time series data which is generated with INAR (Integer Valued Auto-Regressive) model
